Plinia sp. The name “watermelon” comes from the way it looks, which is similar to the rind of a watermelon. The tree is three to four meters tall, with a knotty trunk and a pyramidal crown. Originating in the woods near the municipality of Dona Euzébia, in the highest altitudes of Minas Gerais’ Zona da Mata. Fruit collectors are the primary cultivators of it in tiny orchards. Subglabrous fruits possess a rich flesh, a thick skin, and an intensely sweet taste. Branca Melancia Branca Rajada Plinia Sp watermelon is a rare variety of Jaboticaba in India.
